Are you extremely excited to go on your first camping trip with friends the next month? Well, you have every reason to be excited but you have to also make sure that this excitement is not dampened due to disorganization. Packing the right camping supplies is very important for enjoying a camping trip at its very best. When it comes to picking up the supplies for a camping trip, the most important things that you need to take are rain gears, an axe or a hatch, fire starters, first aid kit, kit for tent repairing, water purification kit, flashlights, containers for water storage, ice chests, trash bags, toiletries, insect repellants and sunscreen. You should also purchase one whistle each for the members of the camping trip. These are some of the basic things that you just cannot do without while going camping.

When you are camping, it is expected that you will make your own food. Therefore, you should carry plate, utensils and bowls of every camper. For cooking large portions you will have to get large pans and pots. If possible, you should add a Dutch oven and big skillet in your supplies list. Carrying large portions of dry food is important. Carry enough pasta, biscuits, stew and chili for all the campers. If you want to enjoy desserts you can take skewers for the graham crackers and the marshmallows. You will also need to get supplies for sleeping and shelter. Carrying stuffs for keeping yourself entertained is also important.

Thailand, known officially as the Kingdom of Thailand and formerly as Siam, is a land of colorful festivals. While some are well-known to tourists, others are not found in travel guide books. Here are five festivals to attend in Thailand that make travel to Southeast Asia enjoyable and memorable.

Loi Krathrong Day

Loi (or Loy) Krathrong Day is a popular festival celebrated each year in Thailand and parts of neighboring Burma and Laos. The traditional practice pays respect to the water spirits, and modern festivities include decorated raft parades, beauty contests, and elaborate fireworks. The event occurs during the twelfth month in Thailand’s traditional lunar calendar (November) on the evening of the full moon.

The word “loi” or “loy” means “to float,” while “krathrong” refers to a lotus-shaped leaf cup. Recognizing Thailand weather, the festival celebrates the end of the rainy season. Many market stalls and shops sell special banana leaf cups for the celebration. People add a candle, coin, and incense stick to the krathrong before floating it on a river, lake, or canal.

The King’s Birthday

The King’s Birthday festival celebrates His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the ninth king of the Chakri Dynasty. Born December 5, 1927, he is the longest-reigning monarch in Thailand’s history. The people of Thailand recognize their king as the “heart and soul” of the nation. He is highly esteemed by his subjects and by people around the world. His birthday, observed as a national holiday, includes national rejoicing, decorated homes and buildings, religious rites, and national prayer for the king.

Christmas in Thailand

Christmas is a popular celebration, despite the fact that 95 percent of Thailand is Buddhist. The Thai people enjoy celebrating Christmas and other international holidays because they like to have fun. Young men dressed as Santa Claus meet children at the school gates, and girls dressed as angels give candy to the students. During school assemblies, children sing Christmas songs and watch plays about Mary, Joseph, and Jesus.

The shopping season is busy, too, as Thai markets sell Christmas trees, decorations, and presents. Cities, homes, and buildings shine with Christmas lights throughout the season. Many Thai people celebrate Christmas with parties.

The Ghost Festival

Phi Ta Khon is actually a group of events known collectively as The Ghost Festival. The annual three-day events take place in May, June, or July in the small town of Dan Sei in Thailand’s Loei province. Phi Ta Khon has roots in traditional Buddhist folklore. In a past life, the Buddha was a beloved prince who left on a trip for such a long time that his subjects thought he was dead. When he returned, his people welcomed him back with a celebration so loud that even the dead awoke and joined in.
Today, festival participants dress up like ghosts and monsters. They wear large masks carved from coconut tree trunks, hats made from rice steamers, and patchwork clothing. The festival includes parades filled with loud celebration, music, and dancing.

Chinese New Year

At a time when Thailand weather is the coldest, the nation celebrates Chinese New Year in a big way. Exploding firecrackers, dragon dancers, and happy children with oranges and “ang pao” (coins tucked inside red envelopes) make their way down the streets of Chinatowns throughout the country.

Chinese New Year is the most important day on the Chinese lunar calendar. Thai participants pay respect to their gods and dead ancestors, welcome the coming spring, and pray for good luck. They celebrate with abundant food and drink, street operas, lion dance performances, and other festivities.

How many times have you roamed around from bookstore to bookstore searching for the books that were given out for rents? Rented books are usually required for short term projects that would need you to have the book for only a short while. Though the internet is mostly enough for those working on projects but there are many who would not have continuous access to it and prefer books over their computer screens. Rented books are greatly convenient but hard to find. Most bookstores that offer them either charge high rates or produce books that are in poor conditions. The best way to rent textbooks is by renting them online. Most online bookstores have unlimited collection of books that are given to students on rents and a very minimum is charged in return.

Apart from the renting service, these online bookstores provide many other facilities to students. Not only can you rent and purchase but also sell textbooks to these sites. Once you are no longer in need of your used textbooks it is better to sell them away other than just keeping them away to rot and wither. These online bookstores provide you true value for money and you can be sure that it is the highest that you would get for your used books. The books that you sell to the website is then either re-sold for much lesser price to those who cannot or do not want to spend more on fresh books and some of them are rented are well. These websites regularly donate books to the under-privileged and therefore you by selling books online you are indirectly doing charity.

Holidays in Greece are mainly focused on its beaches and other natural beauty as well as its historical sites and nightlife. It has great diversity in architecture as well as historical monuments, but one thing common to most of Greece is the pristine beaches and crystal clear turquoise water. Visitors, mainly from the rest of Europe and increasingly from all over the world, enjoy Greece water sports throughout the many islands.

The main water sports enjoyed on holidays in Greece are swimming, jet skiing, parasailing, wakeboarding, barefoot water skiing, sea canoeing, sailing, scuba diving, kite surfing, wind surfing, fishing and many more.

Water skiing is very popular in Athens, especially at Vouliagmeni beach. There are well-trained instructors who cater to children. Expert level water skiing is also available. Most skiers make a deep water start by crouching in the water with the knees bent and arms outstretched. The two arms and rope should be between the knees. When the signal is given, the boat driver gradually pulls the skier, who holds on to the handle of the rope and rises out of the water skimming the surface on the skis.

Sailing is also popular, but depends on weather conditions. The various sailing companies can be contacted for information on boat hire and weather conditions. Winters are mild and short, but tend to be wet. Summer, from April to October, is the high season with warm, clear blue skies most of the time at the beaches.

Greece water sports include windsurfing. The Island of Paros is one of the windsurfing centres of the world. Designated six times the World Cup site, it is the best place for top competitions or for learning the basic skills. It has unique weather conditions with the required wind, and the ideal beach conditions to make it one of the top three best places in the world for windsurfing.

A combination of sailing and surfing, windsurfing needs a board two to four metres with a connected sail rig and a mast. Someone with good surfing skills can usually learn wind surfing quickly.

Diving is another water sport that is especially good in Greece. The crystal clear water makes underwater visibility excellent, and there are not only reefs and sea animals to see but archaeological sites also. From Mykonos divers see ancient Greek and Roman scenes as well as wrecks, caves and canyons. The currents are almost non-existent, and the water is clear and warm in the Aegean Sea.

Greece is an excellent water sport holiday destination, and with budget and luxury accommodation there is something for everyone. Resorts cater to families so that each family member can enjoy a water activity suitable for their level of expertise and interest.

The Buddhist religion and culture reigns supreme in Bangkok. The most striking testaments to the religion are undoubtedly the fabulous temples to be found in and around the city. An early morning visit to a temple is a spiritual experience, even for the most devoutly irreligious. It’s also the best time to catch the saffron-robed monks as they pray. Visiting all the temples on holiday is an impossibility, so we’ve narrowed them down to the most essential three…

King Taksin was renowned for promoting art and literature during his 18th Century reign. He also oversaw the restoration of a number of temples, including Wat Arun, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya river. The legend has it that Taksin fought Burmese invaders at Ayutthaya before arriving at the temple at the break of dawn. He renovated the site and called it Wat Chaeng, the Temple of the Dawn, and the name still used by locals. The craftsmanship on display here is breathtaking, certainly one of the most beautiful temples in the whole of Thailand, with its 70 metre spire, festooned with minute pieces of coloured glass and Chinese porcelain, all intricately arranged in mesmerizing patterns. As the name suggests, it’s quite a place to see at dawn, although you might have to make a return trip at sunset to see it lit up in all its glory.

Wat Pho is Bangkok’s largest temple, famous for its huge reclining Buddha, covered in gold leaf and measuring 46 metres long. The feet alone are 3 metres each in length, and studded with exquisite mother-of-pearl inlays. The temple is also home to a traditional Thai massage school. This invigorating style of massage relieves stress and improves circulation – if you only have one massage on your trip, do it here. The cost is between 120 and 200 baht, depending on the length of the massage.

The headquarters of the Vipassana meditation method, Wat Mahathat is a key centre of Thai Buddhism. Tourists can take classes in English every day – which is highly recommended if you want something a bit different on holiday. Wat Mahathat was built to house Buddhist relics, and is one of Bangkok’s oldest temples. Adjacent to the temple is a huge Sunday market, where you can pick up all sorts of interesting religious artefacts, such as amulets, charms and talismans, each serving a different purpose, some for warding off evil or bringing good luck, others for financial fortune and health restoration. Traditional Thai medicines are also available.

Beware of the dress codes of all Bangkok temples – they generally ask that you do not wear shorts or other revealing items of clothing. Check the specific requirements of each temple before you head off.

If you’re looking for a budget flight to Thailand, you could do worse than the DialAFlight website. Click the link to search for a cheap flight to Bangkok, and discover for yourself the special places of wonder that are Buddhist temples.

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and the third-largest city in the whole of the UK. It was once known as an industrial centre and was not popular as a tourist destination. However, since those days, the city has been transformed by various regeneration projects and rejuvenation efforts. While no longer an industrial city, it remains an economic hub for the whole of the United Kingdom.

The regeneration that is taking place in the city has been overwhelmingly successful. In 2008 Glasgow was awarded the UNESCO Creative Cities honour, joining such culturally notable cities as Seville and Bologna. Today the city is seen as a centre of culture and tourism.

Glasgow has excellent transport links and visitors can easily reach the city from abroad by one of its two international airports. As with most major cities in the UK Glasgow enjoys excellent train connections and it is easy to get from London to Glasgow by train. This might be an expensive ticket but you will be able to reach the city in good time and in comfort.

A more affordable option is to come to Glasgow by road. This also offers more flexibility for people who live far away from railway stations. Coach holidays from Glasgow are easily available because of the city’s excellent road infrastructure. There is a long-distance bus stand in the centre of the city known as Buchanan Bus Station. Here coach holidays from Glasgow can easily be taken and you will find buses running from the station to almost all corners of the country. In fact, buses from the stand operate to many points in Europe. There are even coach holidays from Glasgow that will take people as far as Poland. This service departs at midnight three times a week.

Once you’re in Glasgow, the centre of the city is easy to navigate on foot as it is relatively compact. For longer distances visitors can easily ride the Subway, which is Glasgow’s metro system. It runs in a circle around the city and is an affordable way to get around. For £3.50 you can buy an unlimited day travel card or a single journey will cost you £1.20.

For places that the Subway won’t take you, there are buses in the city that will take you to its every corner. At most bus stops you will find a bus coming every 10 minutes, be careful though if you’re out at night time as the frequency of the buses greatly reduces. Visitors should also be aware that buses do not carry change. This is for security reasons so be ready to have the exact amount of money, or more.

One of the best things about visiting Glasgow is its architecture. The city saw most of its development at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. This has left a great amount of Edwardian and Victorian buildings and means the city is covered in spectacular stonework. Quite a contrast to this old architecture is the huge glass skyscrapers that the city boasts. Many of these have recently been built on the site of old, ugly high-rise buildings that were constructed in the 1960s. Glasgow University and Glasgow Cathedral are two fine examples of the city’s architecture and are well worth a visitor’s time.

Art galleries and museums are plentiful in Glasgow. The Gallery of Modern Art is located in the city centre and has a fine collection from some great modern artists. The Glasgow Science Centre has a great many exhibitions as well as an IMAX cinema; something that will fascinate both children and adults.

Glasgow is a fantastic city that offers a huge amount to visitors. Of course, many people leave on coach holidays from Glasgow, but it is better to be arriving than leaving. However long you choose to spend in the city you will find that you cannot cover everything and will be heading back sooner than you think.
